The Rocky Mountain Clearwing ranges in the western mountains from British Columbia to California. This diurnal species can be found in mountain meadow and riparian habitats. Adults (wingspan 35 - 50 mm) feed on flowers, including kinnikinnick and lupines, from May to August. The larvae feed on snowberry.

Hemaris thetis was known as Hemaris senta until recently.
