Ziziphus jujuba (from Greek ζίζυφον, zizyfon), commonly called jujube (sometimes jujuba), red date, Chinese date,Korean date, or Indian date is a species of Ziziphus in the buckthorn family (Rhamnaceae), used primarily as a shade tree that also bears fruit.
