Wedelia is a creeping herb that forms a low-growing groundcover up to 12 in. tall. Stems are usually hairy. Leaves are glossy, dark green, irregularly toothed, normally with pairs of lateral lobes that are 2-4 in. long, opposite, sessile, somewhat succulent with three main veins. Flowers in solitary heads at or near stem tips. Radially symmetrical flowers orange to yellow with 8-13 florets per head. Rays are 6–15 mm long. Fruits are hard, dry, 1-seeded, 4-5 cm long, corky, bumpy, narrowed at top into short cup-like crown.
