The flat caco, flat dainty frog, or smooth dainty frog (Cacosternum platys) is a species of frog in the Petropedetidae family, endemic to South Africa. Its natural habitats are Mediterranean-type shrubby vegetation, subtropical or tropical seasonally wet or flooded lowland grassland, intermittent rivers, intermittent freshwater marshes, arable land, pastureland, rural gardens, urban areas, ponds, irrigated land, canals and ditches, and introduced vegetation.

Range description 3

This species' distribution is not known with certainty, but it is likely to be the winter rainfall regions west and south of the Cape Fold Mountains, in southwestern Cape Province, South Africa. It is a low altitude species. ItsExtent of Occurrence is probably less than 20,000 km2.
