Summary ¹

Xenocalamus mechowii, or the elongate quill-snouted snake, is a species of venomous rear-fanged snake in the family Atractaspididae. It is endemic to Africa.

Distribution: N Namibia, Botswana, SW Zimbabwe, Zambia, N Angola, W/C/S Democratic Republic of the Congo (Zaire), Congo (Brazzaville)  
Type locality: “Malange” [= Malanje, Angola]
