The Cape wolf snake, Lycophidion capense, is an oviparous, nonvenomous snake which occurs over a wide area of southern to central Africa. The species contains a number of subspecies, including L. c. capense.

Range description 3

This species occurs from Kenya and Uganda, southwest through the Democratic Republic of the Congo to northern Angola, and is also found in the Imatong Mountains in southern Sudan. It is found from 700 to 2,700 m above sea level (Spawls et al. 2002).
