The Okavango mud turtle (Pelusios bechuanicus) is a species of turtle in the Pelomedusidae family endemic to Africa. It is found in Angola, Botswana, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Namibia (Caprivi), Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Diagnosis 4

This species is easily distinguished from other turtle species by the yellow blotched head (illustrated in the first picture). No other turtle species in the southern africa region has this head pattern.

Conservation 4

This species is poorly known and needs to be studied to find out just how rare it is.
