Where to find them 2

August to May:
● foraging on the ground at wet mudflats and edges of shallow ponds
● foraging at edge of shallow ponds at Kealia Pond Coastal Boardwalk
● flying between ponds at Kanuimanu ponds

Bird Facts 2

● Consistent winter resident and considered indigenous by State of Hawaii
● Migrates to Arctic Tundra for summer breeding season
● Can actually be seen turning stones over on rocky mudflats and puddles
● Sandpipers usually foraage by feel and will peck in the mud and shallow water for food
● Plumage is a classic camouflage which becomes more distinctive towards breeding season
