● Near the parking lot at Kealia Pond Coastal Boardwalk
● In the shrublands near the maintenance yard

Plant facts 2

● Endemic to Hawai'i
● Takes varied forms as a tree or a prostrate shrub
● People tried to pass sticks off as sandalwood which was collected as a tax during the early days of the Hawaiian kingdom
● Naio is the tree form, whose seed banks are found in the wetland areas of Kealia Pond
● Naio papa is the prostrate form which is used on the refuge to control spread invasive grasses
