Aequorea victoria, also sometimes called the crystal jelly, is a bioluminescent hydrozoan jellyfish, or hydromedusa, that is found off the west coast of North America.

Notes 3

A seperate, undescribed clade of Aequorea sp. is known to exist off the coast of Southern California (differentiated by reproductive ability). All individuals occurring north of Santa Barbara can be classified as Aequorea victoria. However, the IDs of southern individuals remains tentative
