Not a spike. Branches whorled. Leaf blades 2-7mm wide. Awns absent or very short. One floret per spikelet. Very small spikelets. Less substantial than Agrostis capillaris. Usually in dry ground. Tiller ligules shorter than 2 mm. Inflorescence remains open after flowering.
