Length 34-43mm; Wingspan 57-68mm
♂︎ is very dark dropwing that is separated from all others except half-shade dropwing by the slender abdomen. Unlike the halfshade dropwing the abdomen is unmarked. It also has fewer Ax veins in the forewing (8,5-9,5). Pterostigma is yellowish and not dark.
♀ and imm♂︎ is mustard yellow with unique patterning on the side of the thorax.
