Description 2

Ground color yellowish-white, usually with a few small, dark brown to black flecks on dorsum. Cerata in 5-6 groups of 1-2 cerata each; translucent yellowish-white, occasionally tipped with orange and occasionally with a pale, powder blue hue distally; cores light yellowish to yellowish-brown. Oral tentacles as such absent, in their place a frontal veil which extends slightly laterally beyond body. Rhinophores smooth, translucent greyish-white.

Size 2

Up to about 7mm in length.

Geographic Range 2

Coos Bay, OR to Long Beach Harbor, CA; Europe; Japan; Brazil; east coast of North America.

Notes 2

Found in the intertidal and subtidal to 8 meters, usually in bays and estuaries on floating docks and pilings. Preys on various hydroids: Bougainvillia muscoides, Cordylohora spp., Gonothyraea loveni, Laomedia spp., Obelia spp., Perigonimus megas, Podocoryne sp., Protohydra leuckarti, and Psammohydra sp.
