Peter Warner's Birthday Hike at Pepperwood March 23, 2013

What a lovely idea to gather together and celebrate our dear friend Peter's birthday doing what he loves to do most -- walking and looking at all some amazing plants! We arrived at 1pm to join lots of plant enthusiasts and CNPS supporters including some old friends and colleagues. The day could not have been more perfect for a hike. We saw plenty of early wildflowers. Especially memorable was taking time out to look at a split rock with a whiteleaf manzanita growing in the middle (check out the photo Arctostaphylos manzanita).

We returned to a lovely buffet of delicious food at the Bechtel House. Top on the list were the incredible cakes! Our son Noah and his friend Jonas enjoyed exploring Pepperwood that day too and returned with miners lettuce and made a salad big enough for everyone to try some.

Wonderful to see everyone again and thank you to Pat, and the folks at Pepperwood, for organizing such a great event for an incredibly talented botanist and good friend -- Happy Birthday Peter!
