Northern Slimy Salamander

We were clearing away an area for a mint garden for Penguin27's mother. This was nestled in a corner between an old cellar and an old shed. My son was digging out some old rotting wood planks that had been embedded into the ground for many years. He excitedly called me over to see a whole nest of tiny Salamanders. Since they were right in the middle of the walkway and had lost their current home, we gathered as many as we could find and transferred them to a safer area under some bushes. That was exciting to identify them and learn about one more new critter that lives with us on our Booneville Motherland.
