Found in a hole in a large rock in a corn field; the woman who caught it identified it in Lao as a "nuu nor," which translates to bamboo rat (note this could just be a translation from the woman's ethnic language rather than a formal Lao name). She said they eat corn (it was killed to protect the crop and as a protein-rich meal for the family). Apparently common but not too common, as the woman identified it without hesitation, but her sister-in-law reported it was her first time seeing one
