What appears to be a seed (but maybe not) on the shore of Panama City Beach on a bright sunny warm day with the tide coming in. Can’t tell if “captive” or not as I don’t know what it is. S. Gottschalk suggests it’s a Bryozoan of some sort. It is about the size of a marble.

A friend with aphid expertise thinks this is a mealy bug predator. Plant is in cultivation. I used google search to find insects that predate on mealy bugs. And so it seems this is a C. montrouzieri larva.
