Tall Ironweed (Vernonia gigantea)Observer

It was a minority population within a patch of Tall Ironweed. Looked different enough to me to record. Plant structure also looks a little different than the surrounding ironweed.

What
Hawks, Eagles, and Kites (Family Accipitridae)Observer
frank-lyneDescription
Awful picture. Likely not identifiable to species. It was my impression of this bird viewing with binoculars that its head was too big to be a vulture and that it was too dark below to be a Red-tailed Hawk. The one photo I managed to capture doesn't even show its head. AIs top suggestions are all eagles. I'm betting immature Bald Eagle, but doubt that a sure call can be made. Speculation welcome.

What
Purple Milkweed (Asclepias purpurascens)Observer
frank-lyneDescription
Transplanted this milkweed from our woods, where it had volunteered following logging in 2017. Deep shade is quickly returning to the woods and this milkweed appeared to be dying this spring when I moved it to the yard. The top did go ahead and die completely, but just lately, it has produced a sucker. I'm not 100% sure I moved the milkweed confirmed as Purple Milkweed. If not, it's likely already dead.
