This is a pair of mountain lion tracks found as part of a trail left by the cougar. It is an indirect register, which creates an interesting look. At first glance, based on the leading toes, it almost looks as if there is a left front and a right hind. But they are both right feet. You only see the left outer and inner toes of the front right foot, but all four of the right hind track which stepped partially on the right front.

This is one of a number of mountain lion tracks found at this location. This is almost a perfect direct register. The hind track is on the right with just a portion of the front track being displayed on the left. This gives the unique impression at first glance that there are four lobes on the rear of the heel pad, when there are only three. The fourth lobe is from the front foot that stepped first.
