Description

This could be two different obs, one for fungi, one for lichen. I don't know if the orange blobs are part of the lichen, or just growing in association with it. On a nikau trunk in podocarp/broadleaf native bush.

Description

Probably ship rat, the most common rat caught in traps at Ark in the Park. Poo was on an empty bait station, plastic bags pulled out. Stations are regularly baited, and all the ones encountered were empty.

Mr Hot Pink at his usual territory. He calls regularly, but still no sign of a mate. This is a translocated bird released at Ark in the Park in 2015.

Description

Alive. Resting on the road, 1pm. Rat ran off the road into a concrete drainage ditch when approached. Maybe unwell from bait? Location is on the boundary of Ark in the Park which has regular pest control. Also close to a kokako pair nesting territory.
