What

Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes)

Date

Description

I was out in my backyard at 10:30 am this morning and noticed something moving with a tail in my berm with plantings. As I approached a small fox ran from our berm into the bushes on the side of the property. We have rabbits, squirrels and voles around so hopefully he can help with pest control.

Description

This is the second rabbit that was eaten in our back yard, only a few fur balls and lower entrail colon area of rabbit left.
The first one was last winter, the last one a week ago. We live in a residential area mostly new construction over the past several years.
I would thinn it may be a fox or coyote but no prints, sounds, thinking it occurred at night as animals would have been visible to neighbors during the day.
When we first opened our office on Gemini May 2016 saw a red fox walking down Gemini heading north from the junction of cottage grove road and gemini. Thinking they may be coming from south of Cottage grove road behind the shrine facility. Other than that one siting I have not seen any other animals besides rabbits and squirrels. It is interesting the population seems to decrease and increase. We have also not seen birds in our backyard for several months since July when we had many feeding from bird feeders. Not sure if something is scaring them off as we do not have mature trees yet. My Residence is on Kilpatrick lane behind metro mart where the rabbits were eaten.
