Description

I was leading a tour at the UW-Madison Arboretum. Approximately 12 people were with me. We were in the service drive/garages area east of the Visitor Center. We had just come around the building called the Teaching Barracks (an old CCC building), when an adult coyote ran out from under the building. It disappeared into a sugar maple woods to the east. I remember thinking that it looked thin.

Description

I was finishing up leading a tour at the UW-Madison Arboretum. We were in the south central part of Longenecker Gardens, next to a grove of white pine trees. Suddenly an adult coyote ran from the shrub gardens just west of us, running in an easterly direction, toward Gallistel Woods or the garage area. It vanished from our sight quickly; I did not see exactly where it went. It appeared to be moving normally.

A short time later, a visitor told me he had seen a coyote in approximately the same area, but thought its gait didn't look normal and he wondered if it was sick or injured. I went back to the area with him, but we did not see the animal. It was likely the same individual I had seen.
