The drainage this specimen was growing in is lined with marble rocks. The rocks are up to 65cm lang and form a steep slope in the drainage. The specimen collected was growing in-between the rocks lining the drainage. The area is wet with water from recent rainstorms. Annual herb.

The specimen was found right above a steep ravine. Not completely covered by trees by the nearby redwood forest, because its close proximity to a road. The flowers have 1 stigma, true corolla present and the corolla is shallowly bell shaped with the corolla lobes being larger than the tube.

In a sunny patch of vegetation 12m from the Kerr Hall bus stop and next to Heller Dr on the UC Santa Cruz main campus. The species is a herb with 1 stigma, the stamens are alternate to corolla lobes and the number of stamen is equal to corolla lobes. In a flat area right before a steep slope into a ravine. The area is sunny without a lot of tree cover due to a busy road next to the patch of vegetation. This specimen was collected next to a redwood forest. Grasses were growing next to the specimen.

Tall Flatsedge (Cyperus eragrostis)Observer

This specimens was found after heavy rain hit the collection area for over a week. It was along a dirt road that is not driven on a lot and is used mainly by mountain bikers and hikers. This specimen was about 10 cms from a small temporary drainage (5-7 cm deep) that formed along the West Rd. It was in a patch of about 30 specimens that also had some other species that looked like grasses. The road this specimen was collected along is a redwood forest.

This branch was collected from a one California Bay tree growing on the eastern side of UC Santa Cruz's campus. The tree was flowering when collected. There was a significant amount of rain the week before this sample was collected. It was sunny the day this sample was collected.
