Landed on my sister at Pinecrest Chalet. Seems way too black to be a Sawyer beetle, and resembles the Capricorn based on photos.

Description

I originally only uploaded the first image to get an ID of the snake. It was ID’d as a Great Basin Rattlesnake, but this post has a follow-up. Original pic was taken around 645am just east of McGee Creek Campground entrance as we left to go fishing for the morning. (It has been in the road not too long, I’m guessing). We came back to camp at 10am, and didn’t notice much change. Then after packing and leaving, we pulled over to show our son at 11:00am... and it was just bones. So I’m guessing ravens made shot work of the carcass. Pretty cool!
