Observations by pigeon-posting

This toad appears to be an intergrade between the american and fowler’s toads, showing fully intermediate physical traits. It was found in an area where the fowler’s toad is considered locally extirpated and where american toads predominate; the belly is lightly speckled but there are more than two small warts in each dark spot on the back as is normal for fowler’s. The habitat was a marshy lawn typical for american toads.
