Description

Pileus 4-8 cm broad, depressed to deeply depressed on disc, dry, white then pale ochre, finely subtomentose to finely matte, no concentric zones apparent. Flesh white, unchanging, with curved, light and dark zonations in some, odor mild, taste acrid (within 10-15 sec). Latex apparently absent, but scant watery exudate evident in one basidiome. Lamellae adnate to subdecurrent, crowded, forked in 3-4 ranks, light orange (5A-B6,5) at first, then yellow ochre (5C7) with age, with even edges. Stipe 3-4 cm long, 1-2 cm broad, equal, central to slightly eccentric, dry, white, sublanose to tomentose, rarely subscrobiculate, with interior white to a very pale ochraceous, otherwise unchanging, becoming hollow. Spore print faint, but definitely orange-tinted.

Description

Pileus 3.5-4 cm broad, plano-convex, dry, with 2 fused pileus, with brown appressed squamules on a pale ochraceous to orangish brown background, quickly cyanescent. Flesh white quickly and deeply blue cyanescent, with mild odor and taste. Tubes adnexed, with fine white to yellowish white pores, with pores quickly deep blue cyanescent, the tubes not so much. Stipe 3.5 cm long, 2-2.5 cm broad, equal to tapered at base, dry, tomentose to finely lanose, quickly deep blue cyanescent, with a velar zone near base, hollow to chambered, white, quickly deep blue cyanescent.

Description

Gasterocarps 6-22 mm broad, globose to subglobose to somewhat flattened, matted to subtomentose to subfibrillose to almost matted squamulose, white with brown fibrils, with some pale red to pale greenish areas. Gleba dark brown, marbled with meandering white trama, moist and somewhat gel-like at first, becoming minutely loculose with exposure. Without apparent basal attachment or columella.

Description

Gasterocarps 10-14 mm broad, globose to subglobose, white, staining bluish green, finely subtomentose, with gleba white at first, then chocolate brown, loculose and not gel-filled, sometimes bluish green staining just under the peridium, with a whitish subcartilaginous sterile base, staining bluish green with exposure, arising from fine white rhizomorphs, these staining bluish green as well.

Description

Pileus 4-6 cm broad, convex to plane, dry, finely subtomentose to barely subvelutinous, dark brown to cocoa brown (6F7-6, 6E7-6), becoming areolate with age. NH4 - a blue green flash then light lavender. Flesh white, staining pale blue then grayish fuscous to dark gray. Lamellae decurrent, subdistant, sometimes with anastomoses, up to 1 cm broad, bright yellow (2A7-6, 3A7-6), staining blue green when bruised, with even to uneven edges. Stipe 4-5 cm long, 8-15 mm broad, equal, usually curved, dry, white, subpubescent to matted subtomentose, slowly brownish gray from handling, with interior white, solid, staining pale blue green then dark grayish fuscous; basal mycelium white. Description

Pileus 2-8 cm broad, convex to plano-convex, dry, subtomentose to matted then finely areolate with age, black to gray becoming brown to cocoa brown (6E6). Flesh white, slowly dull pinkish tan with exposure, with mild odor and taste. Tubes adnexed, white when young, light grayish yellow (4B4) then darker grayish yellow (4C4), slowly staining dingy reddish with bruising, with pores likewise, deep reddish bluish with NH4OH. Stipe 4-7 cm long, 5-10 mm broad, equal to subclavate and then tapered at base, dry, black, reticulate nearly to base, dark grayish to brownish near base, white at base, with interior white, slowly pale to dull pinkish tan. Spore print reddish brown. Spores violet bluish in KOH.
NB: One basidiome with finely scissurate scabrous stipe, otherwise similar to those with reticulate stipe (9784b). GenBank RB2 = MH712036

Description

Pileus 3-6.5 cm broad, convex to plano-covex, dry, finely squamulose areolate, lemon yellow, with dark brown squamules, developing some red stains in situ. Flesh yellow to pale yellow, unchanging, with mild odor and taste. Tubes adnexed, bright lemon yellow, not staining, with pores less than 1 mm broad, bright lemon yellow, unchanging. Stipe 2-5 cm long, 1-2 cm broad, clavate to subbulbous, with a subtle taper at base of bulb, dry, pale yellow and finely matted above bulb, finely squamulose (as in pileus) below bulb, intensely chrome-lemon yellow at base, developing some red stains. [N.B.- similar to Veloboletus limbatus material from Qld, but not bluing and lacking marginate bulb]. Unpublished LSU, rpb1, rpb2 sequences BLAST to Veloboletus.

Description

Pileus 8-9 cm broad, plano-convex, dry, finely appressed squamulose scaly, deep red with some olive to yellow in areas near margin, with a slight projecting sterile margin. Flesh very pale yellow to yellowish white, slowly cyanescent, with mild odor and taste. Tubes adnexed, olive brown, cyanescent, with pores pale orangish red and cyanescent. Stipe 6 cm long, 2 cm broad, with a slight submarginate bulb, yellowish white with some pale greenish overtones and finely striate, lightly cyanescent, with an obvious marginate limb at edge of bulb, appressed to suberect squamulose scaly below limb, with scales a deep red to brown, with egg yolk yellow (4B8) tomentum at extreme base (attachment point), with interior yellowish white deeply cyanescent but slowly.

Pileus 6.5-9 cm broad, plano-convex, dry, deep brownish red on disc, dirty yellowish at margin, overlain with agglutinated and appressed dark brown squamules, staining blue when bruised. Flesh pale lemon yellow, slowly blue when exposed, 2 cm thick. Tubes adnexed, bright yellow, bluing, with pores olive yellow (3C8), bruising blue, 2-3/mm. Stipe 9.5 cm long, 1.5-3 cm broad, slightly flattened, equal to subclavate with a pinched base, bright lemon yellow to chrome yellow and fibrillose streaked above marginate limb, staining blue, with reddish to reddish brown agglutinated and appressed squamules below marginate limb, overlaying a pale yellowish ground, staining blue, with interior pale lemon yellow, staining blue, solid, with yellow basal mycelium.

Description

Pileus 7-9 cm broad, convex to plano-convex, dry, finely appressed squamulose, with squamules brown to reddish brown, overlying a dull red disc, dull yellow to bright yellow at margin, staining blue, with even margin. Flesh pale yellow to pale lemon yellow, 1-2 cm thick, staining blue when exposed, with mild odor and slowly unpleasant to nearly bitter taste. Hymenophore adnexed to depressed around stipe, bright yellow to bright greenish yellow (2A-B7,6), staining blue-green when bruised at first, then pores becoming brown. Stipe 6.5-9.5 cm long, 2-2.7 cm broad, equal to subclavate to clavate with a submarginate bulb clearly defined and tapering to base below marginate rim; surface bright lemon yellow above and heavily pruinose to subfloccose, matted toward base, pale pinkish red with fine appressed brown squamules below marginate rim (as in pileus); interior solid, yellow, staining blue.

Flesh white, unchanging, with mild odor and bitter taste. Tubes adnexed, whitish at first, soon porphyry pinkish, bruising pale brownish. Stipe 5-12 cm long, 1-1.5 cm broad, strict of curved, equal to slightly broader below, often tapered at base, white and lacunose reticulate at first, soon with yellow or orangish yellow stains, moist and sticky with some gluten here and there, with interior white, unchanging, solid to pithy becoming hollow.

Description

Pileus 3-9 cm broad, convex to plane, dry, dark brown (7,8F8,7) to nearly black in some, becoming brown (7E6,5), even at margin. Flesh white to pale lilac with pinkish brown to brownish lilac marbling/mottling, with mild odor and mild to slightly unpleasant slowly slightly bitterish taste. Tubes adnexed, lilac whitish when young, soon grayish orange (6B3) to light brown (6D4), with pores violet brown (11F5) when young, becoming brown (7E6,5) to cocoa brown (6E7) with age. Stipe 2.5-6 cm long, 1-2 cm broad, equal, strict or curved, dry, finely scabrous on a pale lilac ground, with scabers a dull brown, with interior whitish to grayish lilac and mottled, becoming streaked with pale brown, apparently with white basal mycelium but this obscured by sand.

Description

Pileus 7-8 cm broad, convex to plano-convex, dry to viscid (wet weather), very finely matted, dark brown (9F8) to lilac brown (11D4) (especially toward margin). Flesh mottled sordid lilac with white, unchanging, with mild odor and taste. Tubes adnexed to deeply depressed, mature and light cinnamon brown, staining a darker brown. Stipe 4-6 cm long, 1.3-1.8 cm broad, equal, dry, finely scabrous, pale lilac with pinkish brown to pinkish lilac scabers, darker below, with interior mottled pale lilac in areas with light brown, with some apparent light brownish orange staining. Apparently whitish at base, but with too much sand to determine color.
