This specimen was a bit oddly shaped. Typically this species grows on the as a short shrub, but this one was trying to grow upright. Flowers are in a raceme and are brightly yellow colored for insect pollinators. The leathery leaves are holly-like and have short spines. A very common species throughout the wetter side of the Pacific Northwest.
