HELP NEEDED
This organism was photographed in my yard in late July, 2013. Approximately 2 millimeters in length, it was located in short grass, with direct sunlight. Unfortunately, this is the clearest photo I managed to get of the tiny creature. I eagerly posted it on BugGuide.com at the time, and reasearched it on my own. It was identified as family Delphacidae, but I was told the image would be deleted from the site due to poor quality. I continued looking through images on the site, and came across genus Xanthodelphax. One species in particular, Xanthodelphax flaveola, caught my eye as seemingly identical to the image I had taken. At the time, the site indicated that this genus was native to Europe, specifically the UK, but listed several observations with images from nearby states in the US. Under my photo, I stated that I believe the bug in my picture could be an Xanthodelphax flaveola. This thought was quickly rejected by an expert, who said Xanthodelphax lived exclusively in Europe. I was puzzled by this, but I did not comment further. My image was deleted from the site shortly after, and I soon forgot about this encounter. (The second picture is from a british website, showing an adult female Xanthodelphax flaveola, for comparison) I rediscovered the image earlier today, and eagerly checked BugGuide to see if any new observations of Xanthodelphax had been added since. I was startled to discover that all records of the genus in the US had been removed. Luckily, I had saved an image of their data, shown in the third picture. Perhaps the bug in the picture is a different species entirely, I would just really like to know what I saw that day. Any and all opinions would be greatly appreciated, thanks, t3d.

According to The Sibley Guide to Birds, the American White Pelican is rare along the Coast of North Carolina. I saw this group from a Tram Tour. Our Guide said that they had established a small population on Lake Mattamuskeet. We were 200+ yds. away when I shot this, a bit blurry.

This orange thing was on a fallen tree in the woods. I have no idea what it is. I touched it, thinking it was some sap oozing out from under the bark. I was surprised to find that it was firm, but it oozed out some orange liquid onto my finger (like a wet sponge would). Please tell me what this was!
I think it looks similar to this Orange Fungus: http://www.yorkshirewalks.org/diary09/diary290.html
Additional photos added 1/3/3014: The first one was still there, and I discovered a smaller one approx. 2.5 feet away on the same fallen tree. Photos 3-5 added, #5 shows the second one.

This Brown-Headed Nuthatch took me by surprise while I was out in my yard. At first, I thought it was a Chickadee, but after I looked back over the picture, I knew it was a BHN. They are extremely rare visitors to our yard, an this little guy was the first in years! I am fairly certain its a BHN because of the Brown Head, Lack of Black chin, and the Blue-Gray Back. I apologize for the low-quality photograph, it was difficult to catch the little fellow sitting still.
