These are Tennessee Redback rabbits a common type of rabbit. These rabbits are the closest breed to the American cottontail. They can vary in size but most are a pretty average size. I observed these rabbits in canton, NC right in my back yard. These rabbits roam in grassy fields and wooded patches.
