This is a wild senna that is growing in a wild area in my yard by some native prairie.

A slenderhead darter captured in a seine survey at the WSU Ninnescah field station in shallow water.

A baby flathead catfish. You can tell it from a mad tom because of the small clear patch on the tail fin. Was caught in a seine at the WSU Ninnescah field station.

In the pond at Dyck arboretum there were a number of turtles. The second picture is of this slider with a large soft-shell turtle and a smaller painted turtle.

This is a balloon flower. It gets it's name because it balloons up before it opens as seen in the first photo. The second shows an open flower.

Found on the high bank of the little arkansas river at Harvey county west park. Theree is a little green sweat bee pollinating it.

Water plant fount in a dammed up sideshoot of smoot's creek at the WSU gerber preserve. The stems were fat and round and the plant was growing in the water.

There was a pair of mourning doves hanging out in the eastern red cedars on a hot day at Chisholm creek park.

This is a monarch in a large patch of liatris at Chisholm creek park..

This skipper was flitting back and forth between some butterfly bush (first picture) and ironweed (second picture). They were even very active when it was 101 degrees out.

This was caught in a seine on the Gerber preserve in Smoot's creek. It is a male.

Largemouth bass caught in a seine in the first oxbow to the west of Smoot's creek at the WSU Gerber preserve.

This butterfly milkweed was found just outside the Great Plains Nature Center building. There is a liatris that it is resting on.

This coneflower was found by a little pond in Newton, Kansas that was dug for fill dirt for the overpass on highway 50 that is just to the south of it.

The second picture is the better one. It shows a blooming plant with a little jumping spider on the leaf.

This was found just to the east of the boardwalk at Chisholm creek park growing right at the edge of the water.

These martens were captured near the front door to the Great Plains Nature center perching atop their birdhouse gourd homes.

Female Blue dasher near a small pond on a small stem of papyrus that was grown last year. The third picture is of a male blue dasher. You can tell the species by the lines on the thorax.

Some white horse-nettle in a vacant lot beside a pond in Newton, Kansas. The second picture shows a bee pollinating one of the flowers.

Male skimmer on a dried up shasta daisy overhanging a small garden pond. He was perched 2 feet from a male blue dasher.

This is one of two species of blister beetles eating my tomatoes. The second picture captures one red-handed so to speak. The tomato is a cherokee purple.
