In the province of Manitoba, Manitoba Forestry and Peatlands Branch is responsible for managing and monitoring Manitoba’s forested lands in a sustainable way.

The Field Guide - Trees of Manitoba on iNaturalist showcases 24 of Manitoba’s trees and provides many ways to identify them using tree silhouettes, bark, leaves and winter twigs. The majority of tree species can be found within a half-day’s drive from most homes.
This new guide features colour photography, new tree facts and showcases Indigenous languages. When possible, the names of each tree have been included in Cree, Dene, Michif, Ojibwe and Ojibwe-Cree. In addition to viewing the guide on the iNaturalist site, hard copy and digital formats are available upon request.
