I'm an invertebrate and reptile keeper at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, but that's a poor descriptor for what I actually do. I come from the Botany Department, and am now in the HIIZ Department (Herpetology, Ichthyology & Invertebrate Zoology). I'm effectively an Invertebrate Zoologist; I study arthropods and present new findings. I'm an educator, from educational theater presentations for the Museum's docent core and visitors, peer presentations, and even live TV. Mostly though, I'm a student of the most diverse desert on the planet, the Sonoran Desert, and I learn something new nearly every day. My goal is to be the best generalist that I can be. A good, potent generalist is by far the most difficult vocation out there, no matter the discipline. The people I admire most are potent naturalists that know how to make learning fun. I am forever doing my best to link our visitors to our resource, the endlessly fascinating Sonoran Desert!
