I have been interested in conservation since my college days in Grinnell, Iowa, but have been much more engaged since moving to San Francisco in 2006. I am particularly focused on bird behaviour and movements as a gauge for understanding what is happening writ large with respect to the seasons and the weather. While my professional background is in the humanities (History & Law), I have a very adventurous and curious nature and look forward to using this site to document some of my favorite observations as I travel.
