Hi! I am a student of Biology at MTSU, with a concentration in botany and ecology.

My current research interest involves culturing a type of plant tissue known as "callus" directly from the seeds of commercially threatened medicinal plants. This technology can then be used for multiple purposes, including micropropagation (to restore wild populations) and root culturing (to harvest important metabolites). I am also interested in how plants can organize themselves at the cellular level to form the various organs we associate with plants, especially in the case of shoots and root tissues.

In short, I just love plants, whether it be in a lab looking at tissue cultures or out in the field, looking at mysterious wildflowers, shrubs and trees. Plants are cool!

While I am not the greatest field botanist or naturalist, I am very interested in learning and growing as a naturalist in order to expand upon what I have already learned as a plant biologist. Hopefully, I can apply knowledge of plants learned from an ecological and evolutionary standpoint to better understand the cellular and molecular processes that make up various types of plants.
