I am a graduate student in Dr. Danielle Zacherl's Marine Ecology and Restoration lab at California State University, Fullerton. My research focuses on investigating the recruitment of native and non-native settlers in the estuarine intertidal onto concrete tiles mixed with shells. I'm interested in finding a treatment that targets the recruitment of native oysters, Ostrea lurida, and other native species over the non-native oyster, Crassostrea gigas, and other non-native species. My study sites are in San Diego and Newport Bays, so you will see some iNaturalist postings from my project! I'm also helping to build a map of native and non-native oysters along the distribution of Olympia oysters and integrating iNaturalist data, so thank you to the many participants that have posted oyster sightings.
