Birder immigrated from Hong Kong to UK. Also very interested in insects, especially beetles, true bugs, bees/wasps/sawflies and flies, as well as slime mould. Increasingly getting into different parasitic wildlife.

Academic focus is in geology (alkaline igneous petrology and mineralogy, petrography, concrete petrography), so I have no real expertise on many taxa and would appreciate correction IDs. This is especially true for my older (eg. pre-2025) IDs. Also, a lot of the IDs of my observations are based on quick iNat CVs, so don't be hesitant to correct them.

My IDs for other people's observations are mainly focused on simultaneously areas and species I am familiar with. So I may not be able to ID species in your area even if I am a global top IDer for that species. But I always would love to learn more so feel free to tag me regardless.

Favourite bird: Hainan blue flycatcher (HK), woodchat shrike (UK). Also active on eBird and rarely iRecords.
