I'm a naturalist based in Oregon and observing everywhere I go.

My first love was birds, then the plants got me, which led me to insects... and now I am learning more about everything in the more-than-just-human world around us.

I reconnected with nature after my wife and I moved to Oregon from Louisiana in 2017, quickly falling in love with birding. Discovering iNaturalist in late 2019 really took things to the next level, and when we moved back to Louisiana from 2020-2024 I was able to reconnect with the nature of my home state in a beautiful new way, eventually becoming a Louisiana Master Naturalist in the LMNGBR chapter in 2022.

In 2024 we made our way back to Oregon and now I'm learning as much as I can about the flora and fauna here with my improved knowledge and skills from the last few years. I was just starting to really pay attention to more than the birds, deer, and showy flowers when we last left, and I'm excited to jump back in.

I'm happy to be a resource of whatever kind I can be for those interested in Wallowa County. If there is a particular observation you would like to know more about, or would like me to re-observe if possible to gather more information, please let me know and I'll do my best.

When possible to do so responsibly, I will soon be taking plant collections for my personal herbarium specimens and will make those available for perusal at some point.

For the last few years I have been making an effort to document Plant Phenology ("Flowers and Fruits" Annotation) on common Louisiana plants, including Black Elderberry (Sambucus canadensis), Blue Mistflower (Conoclinium coelestinum), and more.

I am now starting to work on learning common flora of northeast Oregon and related nearby ecoregions.
