📌 In French Guiana (❤️) since 2020
Coming from the northwest of Paris
Lived shortly in Québec (2019) and in southern France (2019-2020 and 2021-2022)

👨‍🎓 Master's degree in ecology & biodiversity management in Montpellier University (french mediterranean coast)

💼 Studying French Guiana's biodiversity and working for its protection, first on behalf of an environmental conservation association, GEPOG, then for a consultancy firm, AGE, and from 2025 onwards as a freelancer.

🧐 Expertise on birds and butterflies in French Guiana, but also knowledge of many other taxa in this area. I was mainly into birds, moths, butterflies, dragonflies and orthoptera in the WP. Strong interest in botany in both areas recently, which is growing stronger every year!

Please note that I only use iNaturalist to store my naturalist pictures, to get some advice and feedback on IDs I'm not confident about, and when a database that offers the possibility to share naturalist data without picture doesn't exist in the place I am for a given taxa. As a consequence most of my naturalist data are on other databases than iNat. With all theses databases pulled together, I've entered >198.000 sightings of >11.000 species at the end of 2025 - see my global naturalist summary in the "links" section above 😁

Main current projects:

• Writing of a guide to the Hesperiidae Eudaminae of French Guiana with @ninopage
• Creation of a scientific journal dedicated to naturalism in French Guiana, to facilitate the publication of scientific articles about the region's biodiversity
• Revival of the French Guianan Botanical Society
• Creation of a new naturalist database for French Guiana, complementing Faune-Guyane and enabling the entry of data on arthropods without photos
• Surveys of little-known areas to improve the knowledge of biodiversity in French Guiana and in the neighbouring areas
• Writing of diverse papers and reports about French Guianan biodiversity, especially birds and butterflies

Current noticeable actions on iNat:

• Management of flora and butterfly data in French Guiana via the “Flore de Guyane” and “Papillons de jour de Guyane” projects
• Co-organization of the City Nature Challenge in French Guiana (see >here< the results of the outstanding 2025 edition!)
• Daily validation of naturalist data produced in French Guiana, for taxa that I am familiar with
• Review of all ‘Lepidoptera sp.’ data from French Guiana to classify them at the family level or at a more precise taxonomic level. More than 7.000 data to be processed in total, 1.300 remaining (September 2026).
• Addition of all the missing taxa of American Hesperiidae to the iNaturalist system based on the list on the “Butterflies of America” website (~280 done and ~1270 remaining, sept 26) and addition of French Guianan taxa (fauna and flora) that are missing in the iNat system, depending on the opportunities
• Adding my old observations to iNaturalist so I can use it as a personal "Pokédex" by 2026!
