I am a Biodiversity Officer with the Northern Cape Department of Agriculture, Environmental Affairs and Rural Development (NC DAERL), working to conserve and manage the unique natural heritage of South Africa’s Northern Cape. My work focuses on protected area expansion, biodiversity stewardship, and landscape-level conservation planning across this vast and ecologically diverse province.

I have a particular interest in Golden moles (family Chrysochloridae) and South Africa’s dwarf tortoises (genus Signatus), taxa that are both cryptic and highly vulnerable to habitat transformation. Through field surveys, monitoring, and stakeholder engagement, I aim to improve our understanding of species distributions while strengthening long-term conservation outcomes.

My primary objective is to expand and consolidate protected areas in the Northern Cape, securing resilient, well-managed refugia for as many species as possible. I use iNaturalist as a tool for documenting biodiversity, supporting citizen science, and contributing verified records that inform conservation planning and species assessments.
