Professional biochemist based in Cantabria, Spain, currently working on the development of new medicines, and an amateur entomologist.

I completed a PhD in Molecular Biology and worked for several years on the protein biosynthesis machinery in Eukaryota and Archaea.

I also have previous experience in entomology, mainly with Dermaptera, and in palaeoentomology, especially Permian Meganisoptera. I am currently curating the Dermaptera Species File (https://dermaptera.speciesfile.org/).

Here on iNaturalist, I help with the identification of Dermaptera species, especially in the Palearctic region (from Portugal to Japan), where I have the most expertise. I may also be able to help with earwig identifications from other regions, such as the Indian subcontinent, South Africa, and Australia.
