there were lots of tiny bugs on the surface of a small pond. they must have been around 1mm in length or barely larger than that. if i hadn't noticed them moving around, i would have thought they were just black specks on the water. they were gathered around (dead?) insects in the water, on leaves, etc. the pond was relatively shaded, with naiad plants growing at the bottom. it was a relatively cool day (around 50 deg F).
