Shells pink with 20-30 prominent ridges radiating from the posterior opening. Internal skeleton present and resembling a delicate pair of horns. About 20 mm across.
Commonest brachiopod on the shore, usually attached in small groups to the undersurface of loose rocks.
Lamp shells (or brachiopods) show a larger ventral valve, pierced posteriorly by a hole through which a short talk or pedicle emerges to anchor the animal to the substratum (as we can observe on the second picture).
Found attached to recently disturbed rocks in the marina in Port Alfred, Eastern Cape.
