This specimen is approximately 5 cm long, is black with red accents, and had a segmented body. It was fast-moving and appeared to be alone and away from it's colony. Found on the limestone outcroppings surrounding the Upper Falls of McKinney Falls State Park. I believe this to be a member of the Fire Ants clade, because of their prevalence around Austin and the red coloration on the specimen's body.
