Three Crested Caracaras were seen in a field off of FM 112 about 8 mi SE of Taylor, TX. Two of the birds, apparently juveniles, were locked in battle and may actually have had their talons locked together because they kept struggling to right themselves without success. An adult was standing nearby watching the squabble but then walked a short distance away and eventually flew off, leaving the other two birds on the ground.
I was unable to return to the site subsequently to see if the two battling birds extracted themselves or met some other fate.
