Description

This specimen was found in a large pool in a limestone pocket near the Lower McKinney Falls. It was found hiding under some algae or plant matter. It did not enjoy the process of transportation to the classroom and clung to the sed plant-matter/algae until arriving at the lab. The specimen was black with light-brown/creme lines along the edge. It also had wings because it flew away after two seconds under the light microscope. I did not know that it had wings and so didn't but it in a covered container. The beetle itself was rather large, being nearly one inch long and half and inch wide. It had a very small cephalothorax area.
