A. spectabilis a subset of A. marlothii

A. spectabilis is the name for the southern form of A. marlothii subsp. marlothii. The former does not have horizontal racemes but does have thorns on leaves which A. ferox does not in the area.

Ref. van Wyk and Smith (p62), The Plant List and iSpot prefer the latter name. ISpot obsns under either name. The Red List is inconsistent regarding A. spectabilis as separate species and synonym for A. marlothii subsp. marlothii.
