Description

Tura Forest Reserve was burnt through the winter for fuel reduction. The first 2 photos show a single plant which the fire went around, so still alive and the 2nd pair show a large plant on the forest edge which was killed by fire. There were no seedlings under it as yet, confirming my impression that the large (10-40cm) seedlings scattered around the forest edge and track edges were present prior to the fire, not emerged since. This species is usually fire-killed, but one instance of resprouting of a small plant was seen (see separate observation).
