Cienfuegosia
upright, many stemmed , forb to about 15 cms but may have lax, spreading stems towards base; stems angular. Flowers elegant, showy with cream coloured, thin textured petals that typically unfurl from one side initially leaving a central trumpet when opening, the flower has a dark red stiped rather than solid centre, staminal column red, anthers yellow and stigma-style white. Leaves palmately lobed, the lobes with 2 or 3 large marginal teeth. (the photos in oel which are taken from the West African Plants site ( http://www.westafricanplants.senckenberg.de/root/index.php?page_id=14&id=349 ) show leaves without such teeth). The sepals surrounding the buds each bear a ventral median line of large glands and there is an epicalyx of much smaller linear bracts.
This plant has a preference for shallow soils in direct sun it is locally common but scattered.
