Cedarberg Dewstick Bug

Now this is a true association. This bug walks about with impunity on the sticky glandular Dewstick. And eats the goggos that get stuck!

Neat huh!

But this bugs the question!
What happened during the fire. All this burned to gone. The Dewsticks came up from seed. So where on earth did the Dewstick Bugs come from? How did they:
1. survive the fire?
2. survive the few months that there were no dewsticks in the habitat?
