A hardy native annual bunchgrass living in the hottest driest most disturbed conditions along with Lactuca serriola, Solanum elaeagnifolium, Hordeum leporinum, and Cynodon dactylon. The cotton from Populus fremontii (Alamo cottonwood) covers this and other plants in the area.
